When packing the picnic basket make sure to pack only what you need. Below are ideas on how to pack the picnic basket!
How to pack the picnic basket:
Set up your basket with your utensils and a few items that are okay unrefrigerated for a couple of hours. Place a colorful tea towel in the bottom of the basket so the sides of it hang over the basket a little. Neatly arrange your napkins, plates, utensils, glasses and desserts in the basket. Place some roses throughout the basket to add a romantic touch to it.
Pack food in airtight containers or sealed bags to keep freshness in when you pack your picnic lunch. Put things that ruin when squished in hard plastic container. These items might be sandwiches, fruit or desserts.
Place ice packs on the bottoms of the basket or cooler when you pack your picnic lunch. If you will be driving or walking a distance a cooler is a better idea to keep items from perishing. Put any items that need to be cold against the ice packs.
Keep liquids that need to be warm in a thermos. Heat the liquid to hot and place it in the thermos before you leave. When you arrive at your picnic, the liquid should be the right temperature to drink.
Bring a variety of drinks such a water, soda and, as a romantic touch, wine or champagne. When you pack your picnic lunch, place the drinks where they'll be cool and safe from being damaged.
Put the cooler in the car instead of the trunk as the car is cooler. This way, your food stays fresher longer.
